News: 2 injured in wrong-way collision on Hwy 400 near Innisfil

INNISFIL, ON – A 51-year-old Toronto man is accused of impaired driving following a wrong-way crash early Monday near Innisfil that left him and another person injured, reports City News Everywhere.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the collision occurred on Highway 400 near Highway 89, in an area south of Barrie, shortly after the man’s southbound vehicle entered the northbound lanes at Mapleview.

The wrong-way driver’s vehicle ultimately collided with another car, causing non-life-threatening injuries to the other driver and minor injuries to himself.

An OPP spokesperson has since confirmed that the causing driver faces charges of impaired driving and dangerous driving.

Officials had a stretch of Highway 400 shut down for an investigation.
